I think we all hoped that by the end of the year we would raise our glasses and toast the end of the pandemic and all of the extra stress it brought to every aspect of our lives. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and ready or not, 2022 has already begun. The pandemic has especially been hard on parents of kids with special needs. Many of us are feeling exhausted to our core and burned out after enduring these last two years. Even worse, there is no end in sight and no one knows when the next mutation will develop.
What we do know is 2022 is here and we get to decide the lens we use to navigate it. What we need is something to motivate, inspire and guide us in 2022. Picking a Word of the Year is a great way to choose your focus and remind yourself of what you need more of in 2022. Your word will become your lighthouse in the darkness, guiding you through whatever 2022 brings your way. Your one word is simple and it cannot be broken. It becomes your lens and your filter for making decisions that will ultimately shape how your year unfolds. Your word will embody what you want to be, think, feel and do in 2022.
Join us on January 12th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. virtually via Zoom as we discuss why you need a Word of the Year more than ever and we provide you with guidance on how to pick the right word for you. This is a great alternative to making a New Year’s Resolution. Most resolutions are broken or forgotten before we celebrate Valentine’s Day. Plus, they tend to feel rigid and for most of us, they aren’t very motivating. They are black and white and you either succeed or fail. There is no room for the gray that colors our lives as moms to kids with special needs, especially during a pandemic.
After the workshop, you will receive a workbook and some other materials that will guide you through the process of picking your word. We hope you will join us either virtually via Zoom on Wednesday, January 19th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. or in-person on Wednesday, January 26th from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. both in Cedar Rapids or Des Moines, to discuss your word and connect with other moms of kids with special needs. Those who cannot attend the workshop live next week are invited to watch the recording and still attend the virtual or in-person meetings. We are excited to bring everyone together and cannot wait to hear what word you choose.
